Oscars 2026 Shortlists Announced: Frankenstein and Wicked: For Good Dominate Multiple Categories — Full List Inside

The campaign season for the Oscars 2026 is starting now, full throttle. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has declared the shortlists for the 98th Academy Awards, giving us the first major impetus for speculating at which film might be in the race to win the Oscars-the highest awards issued by Hollywood. Among the strongest early contenders are Frankenstein and Wicked: For Good, holding vehicles in several prestige categories this year.

The 98th Academy Awards, honoring films released in 2025, will take place on March 15, 2026, at the renowned Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. At least a few weeks still remain before the nominations are announced. However, the shortlists have already inspired excitement and debate internationally for film fans.
